Choose Your Major and Campus
What you study is an important personal decision. A major is a specialized field of undergraduate study, and your choice of major determines how you will spend the majority of your academic time and energy. To give yourself a chance to produce your very best work, choose a major that you find stimulating.
It's important that you choose your major as early as possible:
- In general, UC campuses admit transfer students to specific majors - there are few chances to get admitted undeclared
- Admission to most majors and campuses is competitive, and being fully prepared for your major will improve your chance of admission
- Choosing your major early lets you get you on track to completing requirements before you transfer
- Changing majors is difficult once you're admitted, and will almost certainly delay your graduation
Your choice of campus is also important:
- The majors offered at each campus are different
- Each UC campus has unique features
- You're more likely to do well academically in an environment you enjoy
