Minimum Admissions Eligibility Requirements
Most transfer students come to the University at the junior level, and become eligible by completing this pattern of courses:
- Complete 60 semester (90 quarter) units of UC transferable courses with a GPA of at least 2.4. No more than 14 semester (21 quarter) units may be taken Pass/No Pass; and
- Complete the following course pattern:
- Two UC transferable courses in English composition;
- One UC transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning; and
- Four UC transferable courses from at least two of the following
subject areas:
- Arts and humanities
- Social and behavioral sciences
- Physical and biological sciences
Each course in this pattern must be worth at least 3 semester (4 quarter) units and you must earn a grade of C or better in each course. For information about which community college courses are UC transferable and which are approved for UC Transfer Admissions Eligibility, visit www.assist.org.
You are also eligible to transfer if you were eligible for admission to the University as a freshman when you graduated from high school, and you have a C (2.0) average in your transferable college coursework.
If you met the Scholarship Requirement in high school but did not satisfy the a-g Subject Requirement, you may become eligible to transfer by taking transferable college courses in the subjects you are missing, earn a grade of C or better in each of these required courses and earn an overall C (2.0) average in all transferable college coursework. You can find more information about the Subject, Scholarship and Examination requirements on the UC Admissions Web site.
Meeting the minimum transfer admissions eligibility requirements does not guarantee that you will be admitted to the major and campus of your choice. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than transfer openings, applicants with the strongest academic preparation will be given priority.
